Looking Ahead to Winter: Thank You for Standing With Us

7th September 2026

As we look towards the autumn and winter months, we want to start with one simple message:

Thank you. ๐Ÿ’›

Throughout 2026, the support from our local community has been incredible. Every donation, every fundraising event, every volunteer hour and every collection organised by a school, church, business or community group has helped us support people across Hertford, Ware and the surrounding communities.

Every tin donated. Every box filled. Every hour given.

It all makes a difference.

Winter is coming โ€” and we expect demand to grow

While we are hugely grateful for the support we have received so far this year, we know that the months ahead could be challenging.

Winter brings additional pressures for households already struggling to make ends meet. The cost of heating a home, higher household bills and the extra financial demands of the festive season can leave families facing incredibly difficult choices.

We expect more individuals and families to need support from the Foodbank as we move into the colder months.

Behind every food parcel is a person โ€” a parent trying to provide for their children, a pensioner facing rising household costs, or someone whose circumstances have suddenly changed.

For many, asking for help is a huge step.

When they do, we want to be ready.

๐Ÿ’› Our Winter Wishlist

As we build our stocks for the months ahead, these are some of the items we would particularly welcome:

๐Ÿฅซ Tinned meat
๐Ÿ‘ Tinned fruit
๐Ÿ Pasta & curry sauces
๐Ÿช Biscuits
๐Ÿฎ Rice pudding & custard

These might be simple items, but together they help us provide food parcels that offer not just food, but choice, comfort and dignity to people going through a difficult time.

If you are able to add an item or two to your usual shop, organise a collection or encourage your school, church, workplace or community group to get involved, your support could make a real difference this winter.

Together, we can be there

We don’t know exactly what the coming months will bring. But we do know that our local community has always stepped up when people need help.

So, as we head towards winter, we are asking you to continue standing with us.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Foodbank so far in 2026. Thank you for donating. Thank you for volunteering. Thank you for fundraising. Thank you for spreading the word.

And thank you for helping us look after our community.

Together, we can make sure that when someone in Hertford, Ware or our surrounding communities reaches a crisis point, they don’t have to face it alone.

With heartfelt thanks,

Hertford, Ware & District Foodbank ๐Ÿ’›
